LUNG FORCE Run/Walk - Saturday!
Saturday night our church will host a Wild Game Dinner. Our speaker will be Dr. David Alan Black from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary!!
I had the privilege of taking 4 courses from Dr. Black while I was working on my Master of Divinity. He was my Greek and New Testament professor, but anyone that ever spent 30 seconds with Dr. Black knows that his heart is to teach Christ and fulfilling the Great Commission. I am extremely excited to have Dr. Black coming to visit Old Fort Baptist Church, as his ministry has radically altered my path in life.
For those unfamiliar, Dr. Black has taken up a few new hobbies recently, and one of them is running. He has challenged me and several from our church to participate with him in the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk taking place this Saturday morning in Folly Beach.
Via the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk website:
Everyone is impacted by the need for healthy air. As you think about the number of steps you will be taking, think about these numbers, because they represent who you are running or walking for:
1: Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer in the United States.
33: Thirty-three million Americans suffer from chronic lung disease.
480: If you think cigarette smoking doesn't really affect people anymore, consider that 480,000 Americans die each and every year from diseases directly related to cigarette smoking.
109: Lung disease costs the U.S. economy $109 billion each year in direct health care expenditures.
This is such a great cause, and a great way to meet people in our community. Click the link below and join us! If you are unable to attend and run/walk, I encourage you to pariticpate by making a donation to this great cause.
Participating in 5K's is a great way to:
